Hello everyone, I am currently enrolled for the Fall Semester 2020 at my local community college and was wondering if it was possible/if anyone has gone to ROTC after one semester or year from community college. My main concern is that transferring to an NROTC school even if I got the scholarship wouldn't be possible because 4-years want 60 credit hours/ 2 years of college/ ADT in order to be able to transfer into their school.

With that in mind, I could transfer out of my CC in two years and join an NROTC program at a 4-year however the likelihood of getting Advanced Standing or a scholarship is very low.

Any thoughts and advise?

I would imagine that things will change enough this year that anything could be possible. Depending on each 4 year college's finances and enrollment drops with COVID, they MAY be more willing to open up their xfer admissions policy to recover their lost students from this year.

You would want to ask them directly.

Check with the schools you are considering. The university where I work will accept students from CC with less than 60 hours - as a Liberal Arts & Science student. Finish your 60 hours of gen ed, then transfer into your major. But every school and major is different.

No first hand experience, but the issue is probably more in the ROTC Naval Science requirements. They are structured with a gap in Spring Junior year. You can end up with minor in NS. They would expect you to make these up so it would mean Fall as incoming Jr - intro to naval science and spring Naval history (the usual sequence) and then the second year courses as well. Mgmt and Leadership in fall as well and then Navigation in spring.

LMHIT makes a great point, this is all academic until you check with the schools. You also need to consider how the course you take in CC transfer, many will but not all without careful selection. I would expand their advice to include connecting with the NROTC program as well as the school.
