I’ve read on cadet command that 4 year scholarship get a travel allowance. Does that mean that cadet command will pay for my move to college. Or how much are they giving. Can someone with knowledge of this topic she’d some light

If anyone has any insight to this it’d be much appreciated! On my scholarship digital paperwork it described that the FIRST trip to the college would be covered by the Airforce. It does not specify if this is moving items cost, fuel cost, airplane cost, or what. It also does not specify anything about family. The only thing for Airforce that it specifies is THE FIRST TRIP to the college (move-in/when school starts) is paid for

navy paid for my sons travel to college. hes on a 4 year NROTC scholarship and he turned in mileage after reporting to school and got a payment a few months later. they also paid for air travel to and from NSI at great lakes plus meal perdiem

thats a good question, we dont know if the travel reimbursement is for the first year only. i guess we will find out next fall :)

I could be wrong, but the way I understand it, if you fly to your college, you can be reimbursed for the mileage to the airport, airfare, any luggage fees, and transportation, e.g., Uber, from the airport to your college. I believe you will receive a travel voucher from your cadre and the reimbursement is paid directly into your bank account. But, you if you drive to college, you are paid only for your mileage (I'm not sure about meals).

I'm pretty sure it's first year only but my wife says I'm wrong from time to time. Well, actually more than that, but....

For NROTC, Navy paid for DS travel to the unit for the first year and will pay for his move to his first duty station. They do not pay to come home in the summer, back to school in the fall or any other back and forth between home and school. They do pay for transportation to and from summer training. I believe this is restricted to travel either from nearest airport to the unit or nearest airport to home of record. So if you are going on vacation either just before or just after summer training and want to fly to or from a different airport, you may have issues. As always unit cadre can give more definite information. In our case, we chose to drive rather than fly heading to school as a freshman. DS was reimbursed for what an airline ticket would have cost, since that was the more economical means of travel.
