The Hotel Package for Cadets only is a little confusing. So do cadets get to stay at a hotel and then receive bus transportation to West Point from there? And do parents have to find their own way of getting to West Point if I do choose to accept this package? Thanks.

FYI...most cadets that use the transportation package are those traveling alone. Cadets who go to Rday w/ their parents generally purchase their own transportation/hotel and then fill out reimbursement forms. A really nice cadet offers the $ back to the parents after it shows up in his/her account (but most of us never see it).

Ok. I hope I don't sound like I'm overly confused, but I did see the memo in my DD portal about the hotel stay. I was confused about that since we're all going to R-day and never thought about cadets possibly going alone. So it that what that Hotel info is for? I wasn't sure if I needed to fill it out. DD gets reimbursed for her share? Sorry. I'm still navigating all of the paper work!

Unless your cadet is traveling on their itinerary, you don't need to fill it out. You just show up Monday a.m. of Rday. Your cadet will fill out a form during beast.

Whew! one less form to fill out!

Thank you for the information. Will reimbursement forms be available upon arrival or is there someplace we can submit them ahead of time?

I don't know if they can be submitted ahead of time. I do know that your new cadet will need to have the receipt with him or her to turn in. There is probably a way for them to do it later, theoretically, but the chances of a plebe finding time to get to the treasurer's office to do it are pretty small.

Reimbursement forms are handled entirely by the cadet. There is a set per diem if you are driving and a guestimate for the flight...or you can make sure your cadet has the receipt. The hotel amount is for one night at a standard rate (so if you have expensive taste, forget it!). Most of us NEVER see the money...as it's deposited in the cadet account and well, it just somehow doesn't make it back to mom and dad.
