Tribute to USAFA Class of 2013

I wish I coulda had the option to take a non-failboard english class but all the ones that would fit in my schedule would have made me uncomfortable just from the other kids in the classes!

I no kidding liked brave new world, but I have to agree with btown that almost any book will look amazing next to the crucible or scarlet letter or native son. Ugh, heck- give me the canterbury tales in actual middle english, it's better than those books!

haha. we get to read the regular english version soon. boo! speaking of which as far as usafa classes go, what kind of english classes are there? i'm assuming it isn't focused on as much as math or science

Haha Marvin, there are kids in my class with the least ounce of wanting to succeed in their bodies. They are the ones that never read and are always skipping just to go to the bathroom and talk on their phones. If that's the kind of people you mean, then yea you probably would have had them if you wanted to take the classes I took. But that's okay, the teacher's awesome and I get a lot out of it. When he assigned 1984 to us, he showed us the song Testify by Rage Against The Machine (which I already knew it went with the book) but it was just awesome that we got to listen to music and write a papers on them.

Thse are exactly the kinds of people I mean. Honestly, it's like no one has ever told them that they can acutally do something with their lives. But yeah, the right teachers make all the difference! (and the wrong ones, the instructor my school had for AP lit was pretty inept in almost every way, a major downgrade from AP Lang, my class actually got enough of a response to get an instructor change 1/3 of the way through the year)

Haha! I wish we could do the same thing with our physics teacher .
And yeah, I feel the same way about those kids. Everyone who read 1984 would agree with me that society, unfortunately, needs those "proles".

Too....many....books to read....not....enough.....time lol

Same here! My entire next week's going to be devoted to Taking Sides: Clashing Views on Political Issues. Talk about a dry subject!

Or the Epsilons from Brave New World!

Yeah, whenever there's something having to do with choosing sides in most of my classes, it's just about the class against me! There's a chance i'll go crazy from not having as much to argue about at USAFA.
