triple Q?

Does anyone happen to know what the benchmarks are for academic qualification?

I don't think that West Point gives the number for those who end up being not nominated with 3Q letter. All I can say is that there are many people are 3Q'd with no nominatioms. The number of people with nominations is around 6,000 and those who receive 3Q letter is around 2,500 so it's really hard to know how many get the 3Q letter but not a nomination since 2,500 is the number for ONLY 3Q'd candidates.

Sorry for any confusion, but this is what I was referring to

Most who are 3Q get a nomination, if USMA is their first choice. The competition for 3Q is much stiffer than for a nomination in most instances. In competitive districts, nominations for 2nd or 3rd choices are usually limited if there are more applicants for those academies than nominations available.

What happens more often is QNS (Qualified Not Selected) + Nomination.

Only admissions knows exactly how academic criteria are calculated, and they are not telling other than academics are weighted 60% of WCS.

So does that mean everyone who receives an appointment gets a 3Q letter in their portal?
No. Some appointments will be made quickly enough that a 3Q letter would be redundant. Also, an RC may choose not to send 3Q letters.

I don't suppose you happen to know which of the RCs don't send them? That would really suck if they didn't; I hate being stuck in some weird limbo where I have no clue where I stand.

Well, if it's worth anything, i know Major Bulls (Southeast) DOES send letters stating a file is "qualified"

My DD never received a letter stating she was 3Q'd. As we watched "green checks" replace "red x's" on her portal, one day out her portal stated "qualified."

I could be wrong, but I think there is a limit on how many appointments can be given off waiver so you may not be deemed triple qualified. Or it could just be that the letter hasn't been sent yet.

Good luck.

To confirm what I said earlier... my waiver request status PDF on my portal stats "You should be aware that only a small percentage of each incoming class may enter with a medical waiver. These waivers are not granted often and are reserved for candidates with extraordinary potential."
