I was wondering whether cadets, if accepted to a service academy following a stint at a military preparatory school, are able to attend with student debt? Obviously some military preparatory schools have pricey tuition. I'm not too familiar with the process or preparatory schools for that matter.

The USAFA Instruction to Appointees stated, "Personal Debts - All personal debts must be settled before your arrival at the Academy."
As you can see, there was no differentiation between types of debt or reason for debt.

I'm just taking a guess here, but if the debts are Federally Guaranteed Student Loans, then the repayment is deferred until the debtor is out of school. Therefore, any *guaranteed* student loans would be ok to carry, since there's no payment during the time enrolled.

Contact admissions at the SA. They'll give you the straight story.

I would not agree with that interpretation. It is still debt. But, it is not my opinion that counts. I do agree that you should contact admissions.
