Turned Down/ Re apply help

I think in general people do end up being happy no matter where they end up.

I know a lot who did not get the school,of their dreams but I can’t remember a grad I know personally of any school SA or civi saying they did not like their school they attended and graduated from. And wished they had not attended.

And I don’t in real life know many or any that transferred civi schools because they were truly unhappy. Change of majors or $$ problems or poor grades I have seen those transfers.
One exception I saw several times in my days, picking the wrong school due to bad decision making rationale. Either going to same school as gf/bf who ends up breaking up with you anyway, going to parents' choice to appease, willfully ignoring the geo/demographics (large/small school, town, distance from home, liberal/conservative attitudes, etc.) that you know are not right for you. Generally, those are the unhappy ones transferring after 1 semester/year.

Echo the above. In my day, lots of my classmates attended a certain school because "everyone else was going there so it must be great." It was great . . . but not for everyone.

I typically advise college applicants not to get too attached to any school until you see who accepts you. Focus on the fact that those schools wanted you! Among all their applicants, they chose YOU. They're excited about having you in their student body. Celebrating that is much better than fixating on a school that didn't work out. If, after a while at the school you choose you realize you still want to be somewhere else, then consider the alternatives.

You have a unique advantage applying next year. Going through the application process again is a great way to show grit and resilience. Sought after qualities that are tough to measure.

Re-write the essays. You now have new material related to overcoming adversity.
