TWE by mail only?

Can anyone tell me if there is anything in the portal for declination? I keep reading that TWE are coming by mail only and no portal change. DS has received three letters via mail throughout this process and all three are also in his portal under official correspondence. One would think a letter as important as TWE would be there as well.

I ask because I don't fully trust our mail :p

DS is still cool as a cucumber about all this, at least outwardly, but I am over the wait!!! Trying to be patient, though. DS doesn't want to email anyone to inquire about where he stands so I need to just try to chill out.
 
Should know something this week, hold tight. No TWE reflected in the portal docs means he’s still in the hunt.

If rejected, your DS will likely receive a TWE in the mail first. A few days after, he will get a pdf in the Official Correspondence section of his Home page titled "STATUS UPDATE", which entails the rejection message.

So it WILL be in the portal if he gets TWE??

jr, my interpretation of the USMA posts is that prospective candidates are in fact getting TWEs via snail mail before any update shows up on the portal.

That is definitely different from USNA which is invariably a TWE on the portal. I don’t believe USNA is even sending Snail Mail TWEs.

Our TWE adventure developed a little differently. Got it in the mail 2 weeks ago (sad, sad day) but nothing has appeared in the portal. So I guess it can be done both ways.
 
Son's portal was updated with a decline this past Friday. No TWE via the mail system yet. Disappointed, but also glad the suspense is finally over so we can move on to plan b. Best wishes for everyone still waiting.
 
USMA portal updated today with a "Status Update Letter" pdf under Official Correspondence. It was declination letter. Super Bummed. Such a long wait for a decline.
 
My portal update today! TWE... on to plan B... I plan to reapply next year... any recommendations on classes to take my freshman year? Good luck to all still waiting.

My DS decided that his plan B (AROTC scholarship to his first choice) had become his plan A a couple of weeks ago and shortly thereafter he told me his portal updated with a TWE (this was probably ten days to two weeks ago). He never showed it to me but I trust that he recognized it for what it was. However, he never got an email and we have not received anything by mail. It just has me curious. I am not pushing the issue with him because he is blissfully happy with his choice. We just got back from a visit to the University this weekend. I just assumed that at some point the TWE would come in the mail. Does anyone know if this is unusual? I would just personally like to see what a TWE looks like. He put a lot of effort into his application, and I am thrilled he is happy with his choice but I guess it is me that needs a little closure. Sorry if that sounds silly because I really am thrilled with his choice and think it will serve him well.

Not silly, I have been wondering the same thing. My DS's portal shows that a TWE was uploaded 10 days ago, but he hasn't received an email or anything in the mail yet.
 
My TWE showed on my portal on 4/9 a PDF. I simply printed it. Nothing has come in the mail as of 4/15. It will be the exact same letter as the PDF. My 3Q letter was the same way. It came probably 10 days after I was notified on my portal. I believe the portal is the main source of communication not the mail system or email.
 
DS's TWE was in his portal on 4/8. He received the hard copy on 4/11. Exact same thing as what was in the portal, just in an envelope. That's why we were glad it was in the portal...just never know how long mail is going to take.
