Understanding it’s early stages in processing this, why would he not re-apply to USMA, perhaps while doing AROTC? A good chunk of every class is re-applicants, sometimes 2 and 3 timers. I applaud those folks, because for them, that’s what they needed to do, and they set pride and past denials aside to pursue it. Of course, if his goal of serving as an Army Officer is primary, and he can let the USMA dream go without another thought, he will be perfectly fine charging along the AROTC path. He can always change his mind about re-applying, and can let the thought stew for several months. No need to rule anything out at this point.
I appreciate you bringing people along on this part of the path. In the coming months, hundreds of stellar applicants will receive paper or electronic “TWEs,” with no specific reason to pin the “not you this year” decision on. It is indeed a growth opportunity for the applicants who have probably not had many doors they worked hard to open, not open.
