TWE

@anxiousandproudmom... go to the admissions page and log-in to where it shows his recommendations, etc. It should have a link now to the decision, if your child was EA I.

@stella... thanks, and yes we are very proud of him! Honestly, he does not have a number 1 choice, he really loved all of them for different reasons. So, we will just wait and see and as I told him, he will end up where he's supposed to be... :)

And yes, applications for ALL of it are daunting! He applied to 2 academies, and 5 civilian schools. All are complete and turned in except for one of the civilian schools. We made a list of deadlines for applications/nom packets/etc. and he just did them in the order they were due. Now he has an application for Honors college for one of the civi schools, last college app, and then we start working on aide and scholarships. It seems like it's never ending!

MMMom: Thanks for the direction. He is EA1 but no decision posted on the site yet. I guess we keep waiting...Good luck to your son - may I ask what his stats are?

Hopefully results for the rest of us will be shown later today... It's only 7 am so my waiting just begun, as I just woke up! Nothing on the login page for me yet either.

Just got notified that I was put on the waiting list. I still have hope! Just out of curiosity does anyone know the statistics of the waiting list? For example, how many people are generally accepted from the waiting list?

It varies from year-to-year, but usually around 10% of the class is appointed from the wait list. It really all depends how many of the applicants offered appointments accept and then how many of those applicants that accepted their appointment either change their mind or become medically disqualified prior to June 1st. We keep our wait list small, only 37 offers right now, so it's definitely a good thing to be on it.

All EA1 notification letters have been posted online and all applicants should have received an e-mail with instructions on how to view them. We're no longer mailing paper copies of the notification letters, so please contact your Admissions Officer if you're having problems retrieving your letter or have questions about your status.

Thrilled in our house! DS received phone call earlier in the week but seeing it on paper is exciting! What a gift to have this news before Christmas :)
Congratulations to all!

DS got a wait list as well. He's got a very strong resume, but as he reminded me this morning, so will have almost everyone applying early action. He has a nomination for USNA, and has already been accepted early action to two of the schools on his NROTC list, but USCGA has been his first choice since elementary school. We'll just keep our fingers crossed while continuing to work on plans B, C, and D.

@H2Omom... Mine had basically the same response, kids are smarter and more adaptable than their mama's sometimes, aren't they?

@anxious and proud mom... sent you a PM.

MMMom: I guess I can't send you a PM because I don't have enough posts yet. Just found out that my son did not get accepted. We are all very disappointed. Oh well, on to plan B... Your son's stats are stellar; my son's are very similar (identical SATs). Best of luck to him!

Anxious and proud mom: wait list or rejection? I'm sorry either way... no fun when they work so hard only to be disappointed. What is plan B?

MMMom: Rejected. Plan B is 7 other colleges (all engineering programs) at this time with some other applications pending. No other military academies - CGA seemed like a perfect fit. He's heard from 3 so far (accepted; 2 with nice academic scholarships) but he had his heart set on CGA with no definitive 2nd choice right now. We all will just have to digest and process the news and move on. Best of luck to you! Merry Christmas!

The bar is set high this year. DS waitlisted for scholars program. Good luck to everybody and happy holidays.

CG Decision Day

DS waitlisted for scholar program. Waiting on other SA and Nominations....hoping for news soon. Has appointment to USMMA and 4 yr NROTC in hand, but loved the USCGA after AIM program. Can anyone shed light on chances if waitlisted for USCGS? Thank you and Merry Christmas to all!

A female friend of mine got wait listed. Extremely competitive as well. She says she believes it due to the classes she took (only 1 semester of Chem and Physics and only intro to Calc in IB).

Can anyone shed light on chances if waitlisted for USCGS?

If ~10% of the class is expected to come from the wait list, that would mean ~24-26 appointments. Wait list slots will go to competitive candidates who have a real chance of appointment, not (as in the past) just to anyone/everyone who didn't make it via EA.

As for your son's chances from the wait list?....Compared to not being on the wait-list, I'd say "excellent."

Ha! Thanks, Luigi59... we're keeping an open mind and all our options open. Hoping for lots of good things in 2013!

In the letter that told me I was put on the CGAS wait list, it said the list is not ranked. Does this mean people are chosen at random from the list if slots open regardless of their stats?

I was wondering the same, PupNSuds... how are they selected off the wait list if they are not ranked? Also, folks mentioning being wait listed for the scholars program, is that a separate wait list?
