TWE

You can still get a FS. Saw a post from ‘In The Know’ and it was stated that those can go out as late as early June. The majority of the FS have been offered, but there is a high declination rate because many don’t understand that a FS is a ‘golden ticket’ for the next year or choose to go with their Plan B. However, there are only 60 that will be offered this year, so the chances are slim. I don’t have stats about USAFA prep, so I cannot address that possibility.
Thanks for the update. It's good to know. Our DD is moving on to plan B, because she figured all FS had already been offered.

My heart goes out to all the DS's and DD's that received TWE's today. My prayer is that you all know that you are STILL the apple of America's eye! Be proud of the hard work you have already put forth. Know that the hard work you put in thus far is not in vain. Good things will come your way for sure. Keep your head up because you are the best of the best!

Just a quick question. Do all parents on college forums address their kids as “dear son” or “dear daughter”? It just seems like an odd way to address your kid.

I wouldn't normally, but I do when it seems like the norm on the forum I am using. I have seen it used in other, non-college related forums, also.

It may be a little weird. But, its both a tradition and the easiest way to do it. It can't be MS (my son) or MD (my daughter). It also can't be MK (my kid). Its just the easiest way to reference one's son or daughter without writing out the whole thing or stepping on any other acronyms.

What did everyone’s portal letter say? I have heard some simply say no appointment awarded, while others said no appointment, no prep school, no falcon foundation scholarship. What is everyone’s take on that?

Brand new here and to this whole process, but the TWE came for son today....tough - he has a 4.1GPA and a 1430SAT, NHS Board, JROTC honors, 2 congressional noms....hard to take
> what is MMI?
> are there schools that look to TWEs as a source for scholarships? It would seem that the AFA did a deep scrub and schools would look for these cream of the crop kids....
> What is the process get into the Falcon or the Prep School?
> He is already accepted at Embry Riddle and Texas A&M with a $72K scholarship, but if he picks E/R, his scholarships converts to a 3 year(??) while TAMU is a four year deal. Does E/R have a way to soften the tuition blow the first year - it is substantial even after he got a $60k ($15K/year)
Opinions matter - thanks for yours!
That’s a choice you should discuss with your DS ! Explain the pros and cons of student debt . Either school he comes out as a 2nd luitenant . Explain as parents how you can or cannot support him financially . Sounds like a promising young man but if you cannot afford it or he cannot afford it with student loans the choice will be clearer !

Do us TWE recipients still get a chance to be offered Prep School or a FS?

The letter doesn’t seem to say so, as it is really telling us to work towards reapplying...

Plan B’s locked down though. Just a thought!
