TWIC & TSA Pre Check

Have you received the Logging In packet of information yet? Pretty much all you need to do with respect to the passport (and TWIC) is well outlined in that document.
I spoke with someone today from USMMA and they indicated logging in doc will not be sent until May BUT the good news is......... 🛢️🥁🪘
I was told the class of 2028 would not have to purchase their computer (previously $2300 ishh), it would be free ..... probably won't include any accessories. I am just hoping it is still a quality computer!

Wow - that’s some crazy news! Thanks for sharing. Now I’ll be waiting impatiently for that packet 😂. Did they say why they are changing it?

Twic card numbers: I think the Known Traveler Number KTN is on back of card, left set of numbers. It doesn't say "KTN", but it is what you use.

The article references certain IDs you can use- the Merchant Mariner ID was listed, is that the TWIC card or is there some other ID in the industry?

It's the TWIC card, but I remember my son asking which set of numbers to use because I think there were numbers to the left bottom, and numbers to the right. It was not obvious to me since it did not say "KTN".

As an FYI - the number of digits in the TWIC isn't the same number of digits as a KTN. I think a KTN is 9 digits and a TWIC is 8 maybe? Some airline reservation systems won't let you put the TWIC number in because it isn't enough digits, you have to add it at the counter.

Thank you! Hopefully if it goes by this new thing, they will populate by ID.

Interesting. I wonder if they're moving off of the Surface platform to regular laptops?

Our kids' HS switched from iPads to Surface tablets for this school year and they're having a ton of IT support issues.

The Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) is a credential issued by the United States Coast Guard in accordance with guidelines of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) to United States seafarers in order to show evidence of a mariner's qualifications. It is totally different than the TWIC card.
