West Point admissions posted on Twitter that 300 have received their appointments, can anyone tell me how many appointments go out? I mean how many total appointments for class of 2023?

USMA aims to build a class of 1200. Their yield is about 85% of those who receive offer of appointment. So that suggests they make about 1400 offers. That’s rough, but frankly, close enough for your purposes. Whether it’s actually 1350 it 1450, it’s all out of your hands at this point.

The corps is capped by law at 4400 so they cannot admit more than space allows.
One of the reasons appointments trickle out into late June.

Right now academic separations [mainly for '21] are happening so the allowable incoming class size can be confirmed. Nobody outside USMA knows yet precisely what size the class of '23 can even be.

You are not late. From now on, every week you will see updates to the list of those people who have received appointments. Mostly, it will be a trickle.
This was just the big first wave of appointments for this class. Each university/school has a 'yield' rate, which is the percent of 'attends' to the number of 'acceptances.'
USNA and USMA have very high yield rates. However, if 300 offers are out, that means there are more than 1000 appointments yet to be offered.
In the end, if you have a nomination and your packet is 3Q, you have a greater than 50% chance of getting an offer of appointment--but it might not be until the end of April.
That does NOT include offers to USMAPS and other AOG scholarships for a year of prep school--so you can bump up that number but maybe 100-150.
It is a marathon. The good news is, it is now the end of January. You should know something in the next 95 days.
