Hello Everyone! I was just awarded a Type 2, 4 Year, Technical Major Scholarship by the US Air Force.

I was wondering if anyone had any information on colleges that might match the scholarship for the rest of tuition. (18000 is very helpful but it still leaves a lot of debt.)

For example, I know that the University of Saint Thomas provides a subsidy for the rest of the fees if you are on Type 2. (https://www.stthomas.edu/afrotc/scholarship/).

My number 1 choice is the University of Indiana, but I don't know if they provide a subsidy. Any information would be helpful for any college!!

(I live in Virginia by the way)

My DS received a Type 2 and the University of Kansas automatically granted in-state tuition which now pretty much covers his tuition. His merit scholarship from KU will now go towards room and board.

My DS is AFROTC at Mizzou, they waive the out of state tuition and they pay first year room and board for 4 yr scholarship winners. Then you can use any other scholarship $$ to pay the remaining years for housing. I would guess a 30+ ACT will get you $6-8k annually off your room and board for the next 3 years.

Okay, this might be a stretch since it is very far away for you, But University of Portland (the west coast Portland in Oregon), subsidizes the difference between type 2 and type 1. It is a private university so the difference is quite a bit. They also provide a waiver for room and board for all 4 years.

I know you have a type 2 all 4 years, however, for those who have a type 2 for 3 years, they provide room and board all four years and generous merit aid for the first year.

Their engineering program is highly regarded if that is an interest. I have included their financial aid posit that explains the benefits of using your scholarship there.

Take a close look at the University of St Thomas. With a Type 2 your total cost for 4 years, including room and board is $0. Det 410 consistently is ranked among the top AFROTC detachments. The Engineering Department is also ranked well nationally. The campus is located in a beautiful spot along the Mississippi, just minutes from both the St Paul and Minneapolis downtowns. My DD graduates from UST and commissions in May before heading off to pilot training.

Boston U will top off the difference. However, isn't it a bit late to be looking at new schools - haven't most app deadlines have passed?

Thanks for the info! In terms of deadlines, there are hundreds of universities that have rolling admissions which end in August. I already applied for my top 10 schools in Early Action/Regular Decision, but it would be nice to get some more backups (or even unknown primaries)
