Any news on this topic is “So Important” that it deserves its own Thread on SA Forums …

I just read this from the BBC online …. Enjoy 😎

Interesting indeed. This is an understatement:

"Inviting the US military into your country can be sensitive and even controversial domestically, so many partners ask that the US presence remains secret - the teams rarely wear uniform. But increasingly, governments are choosing to make missions public."

This is surprising. To me anyway:

"Hunt Forward missions are classed as "defensive" but Gen Paul Nakasone, who leads both the military's Cyber Command and the National Security Agency confirmed offensive missions have also been undertaken against Russia in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine. But he and others declined to provide further detail."

Given the first statement above not sure how believable this one is:

"By the time Russian troops flooded over the border, the US team had been pulled out."

The teams don't need to be on Ukrainian territory. They can be in Rzeszow, Poland or Augusta, GA or anywhere.

I encourage youthful readers of SAF interested in cyber security to consider participating in the annual CyberPatriot competition at the middle and high school levels. CyberPatriot -- https://www.uscyberpatriot.org/ -- is the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air & Space Forces Association.

I coached winning middle school teams -- at the state level -- for several years. Students enjoyed sleuthing computers, discovering hidden malware and other defects, and scoring points. One of my assistant coaches became a leader within the Fort Gordon, GA schoolhouse. On the commercial side, the field continues to wrestle with the challenge of boosting diversity.

CyberPatriot definitely offers opportunities for students to demonstrate leadership. Worth a closer look.
