I don't think that this underscores a cultural divide despite the WaPo headline- rather it underscores to me that American soldiers like this young specialist are willing to give what they have to help those with less. Sooner or later that will pay dividends in ways that we can't predict right now. So I applaud Specialist Maurice and I suspect that the Afghans that she helped are applauding her as well underneath it all.
