For those who have not read it yet, the new edition of Grant’s memoirs is a great read.
 
I've read his memoirs a few times. He was a great writer. Glad Sam Clemens (Mark Twain) encouraged him to write them and publish them.

The latest edition was edited and footnoted by Elizabeth Samet, an English professor at West Point since 1997. Great footnotes that really lend historic perspective and delve deep into some issues.

Is this the same Professor that gave the talk at Ike Hall on Plebe Parent Weekend? I did not catch her name but her whole presentation was very, very, good. Been trying to find out who she was. Wanted to follow up on her work a bit more.

I had to work and was not able to attend this year so I’m not sure but I assume so.
