hi I recently accepted an appointment to NAPS. I live in NYC and went to my local police station asking for the background check and they said they were unable to perform this. I then went to police headquarters of NYC called One Plaza Police Station. I have gone to OPP twice and both times they said they have been unable to fill out the form. I have only been able to get my finger prints scanned. Any advice from people in NYC would be greatly appreciated.

I will check & advise.

The Certificates of Conduct (formerly known as Good Conduct Certificates) requests are criminal history searches within New York City. Individuals must apply in person at One Police Plaza, Room 152-A, Lower Manhattan. This is my post from April, 2019 so might be a little dated. If it doesnt work out PM me if/when you can. I'll keep an eye out on this forum too.

Check with the state police. DD had to make an appointment with state police to get printed, mailed off 7-10 days for background check to return. Took her 4 times going before someone told her she needed an appointment, . City police couldn't do it

The term “background check” may be misleading. Scour the forums for recent posts regarding what to actuall ask for and how best to go about it.

County? State? City? SRO? Make some calls. Ours was done all via email. It’s NOT a background check, in the sense LEO’s are most familiar.

All I did was have the Oregon State Police Junevinille division answer the questions to the form.

To do that they run a report and if no report exists they said no to all questions. If there was anything on the record then she would have had to have that printed and submitted with the police record check form.

Our status shows green.
