So I was just awarded an NROTC National Scholarship for my college (Marine option). I filled out my medical forms completely honestly--which included writing that I have consumed alcohol underage.

I consumed very infrequently and don't anymore. I never lost control or was caught/got in trouble. I wrote that I consumed alcohol once, nearly 10 months ago, and that I no longer do. I submitted the forms and have taken both my optometrist appt. and my medical exam, and I believe both appointments were otherwise fine.

I am exceedingly nervous that I will not be able to join the NROTC Marine unit now because of that one-time experience, but I figured that the honor in honor, courage, and commitment would necessitate that I answer truthfully on the DoDMERB forms, which I refuse to regret.

Does anyone have any experience or advice? I just want to know what you think will happen, if anything. I assume I will need a waiver . . . I just want to know if my scholarship and spot in the unit will likely be secure or not.

Agree with USMCGrunt. I've seen folks with "far worse things" to confess.

You certainly have the honor, courage and commitment. It sounds like you'll make a good Marine. :)
