What would be considered as a unique life experience in the admission process?

I want to say something like being able to go to Scotland/England with the band for two weeks during the summer, but I'm not too sure.

Any ideas?

It is something that distinguishes your upbringing/life from what "most" experience. In some cases, it may have had an impact on your grades, activities, etc. Here are some examples: living overseas for a significant portion of time, living in a car or trailer for a period of time, having to care for/raise siblings, being the victim of violent crime, having parents who don't speak English, overcoming a severe injury, needing to work while in h.s. to support your family.

This question was not asked in my day but I might have said attending German pre-school/kindergarten for 3 years where no one spoke English.

I'm sure there are many other examples. It need not be a sob strory. And, not everyone may have one. I don't think it is considered a negative if you leave it blank.

Im going on a Rotary Exchange program for a year to italy

does that work?

unique life exp

My son is a re-app and did not fill out this section on his first application but his BGO recommended that he do so this time around since we were hurricane Katrina victims. He really doesn't want to--he hates whining--but so many areas of our lives were messed up. His school and the community was a wreck and still is. Everyday, something is a little better, but there is still so much loss and years of rebuilding(or not)to go.
Anyhow, if you're in doubt about that section, you should run it by your BGO
