Currently not insured because my Dad lost his job due to COVID. I have a four year AROTC scholarship, and my school requires all students to have health insurance. If a student has private insurance they have to get a waiver signed to avoid paying the insurance cost/premium. Will ROTC cover it as it's mandatory (will it be covered as a fee like other school fees?) to have some form of health insurance, seeing as I'm not covered? I'm going to school in Colorado this August. I appreciate the help!

my son's Norwich health services fee was paid as part of his AROTC
The fee is to cover on campus infirmary and is not medical insurance per se.
he waived the school policy as he was covered on my plan.

My son did not have health insurance as we live out of the USA. We took out the school policy and the scholarship paid for it.

My kid's campus-based AROTC scholarship pays for the university's student health insurance plan.

Nothing on his part to my knowledge. When reviewing the bursars account it showed up as CU Gold Health Plan. If memory serves it was $2500 per semester but not sure. My guess is that CU saw that he was on a full ride ( less R/B) they charged the full ticket to the Army.

Yes sir, I'll be attending CU this Fall. I'm hoping the Army will cover it as I don't have the spare change to cover the university's health plan. Thank you!

I think ROTC is also suitable for it. Sorry for your dad, but I hope he'll be fine. You should find some side job to cover your insurance; it would be sad if you had to leave the study in the fourth year. You could also check here for affordable private health insurance options. Getting one there may be even more affordable than ROTC, but it's up to you. My job demands the same conditions, so I decided to take private insurance, which has many benefits. I wanted to live without one until I got hit by a car one day and couldn't walk for two weeks. Now I decided to pay the insurance always just for a case.
