Upcoming CVW

dropped DD at CVW... she was surprised at how many juniors are in attendance. USAFA is her dream but this is 2 hours from home. told her every time they say navy to just think air force in her head. told her to have fun and she took a dozen Hershey Chocolate World choco chip cookies with her as a thanks to her mid. Curious to hear her thoughts Saturday.
The covert saline drip may work its salty magic.

I was really surprised when I asked my son after he returned from his CVW last month, "So, what does a Friday night at USNA look like for plebes?" They ordered pizza and played Xbox. Seriously? Overall, he was amazed at how non-military his entire visit was. He and I know it is not always like that, but it was surprising nonetheless!
1) they are not allowed to have an xbox, they are either hiding it or were exclusively allowed to use someone else's because they were "rating" media.
2)Friday night "study period" for 4/C and 3/C becomes increasingly about blowing off steam as the year goes on- the upper class are mostly gone on liberty already, Lord of the Flies.
3) yeah mids get papa johns half price. it is terrible in my opinion haha.

Clearly, that Plebe (with the Xbox) was NOT in my DS's Company.

Fresh back from CVW...just some observations
DS was glad he took a sleeping bag, pillow and extra blanket, joined his plebe on the morning workout...the experience of running to hospital point in the dark, doing a log workout and watching the sunrise seemed to leave a lasting impression. He was hesitant as he walked away with 2 dozen brownies and 6 dozen cookies...evidently they were a hit as midshipmen stopped by the room throughout the evening when they heard baked goods were available. I think it helped ease his nerves of feeling like a "drag". Enjoyed the parent briefings and tour...recommend parents go if able, helps to answer questions. USNA is a really incredible place.

Was there as well. I thought they did an excellent job for parents as well. My DD was sad not to be able to do cheer practice Friday with plebe but totally understood the respect paid to the lost MIDN. She also took cookies and they were much appreciated. Sleeping bag yes. Her biggest complaint? Attending Calc, Chem, & gov’t thinking she got out of them from her missed day at her HS.

The XBox may have been because your son was there? Plebes don't usually rate media on Friday nights. (My DS has a great story of being caught by an officer looking at You Tube on a Friday night, but since they were actually perusing videos of bad ass USNA jets, they were allowed to live. LOL)

My DS went in his Jr year. I dropped him off at the gate went to the one parent session then picked him up curbside. First ting he said was he belongs there and all the kids he met were just like him. He did everything with his group including a workout with Seniors. He ran into 2 people he knows on the swim team, and he still keeps in contact with 2 of the guys who he roomed with. You kid has to want to be there CVW is good way to test those waters. And don't forget they have to serve their time after
