Updated Plebe Summer 2016 Info

With regards to the second schedule, what do Midshipmen do in the 19 days between the end of exams and graduation?

Some briefs for upcoming training, summer school, sometimes intersessional leave if they are lucky, plus other stuff during "Zero Block," which runs up through Commissioning Week, with Block I of summer training starting up right after graduation. Blocks 2 and 3 follow, taking the calendar around to Reform in August. Mids head out to internships, special language programs, all kinds of stuff, some during Zero Block, some in later blocks. Some, sadly, are stuck on the Yard because they are on restriction, or are going up for academic boards to assess whether they can continue. Some are still involved with their varsity sport.

First class get a lot of time off, but they have plenty of stuff to get done on their To Do list prior to Commissioning Week.

I am sure current mids on here can describe what they have done during this period.

Just a thought I had this morning...do Plebes have training/classes on Sunday on Plebe Summer? Or do they get to go to church/relax a bit/ study Reef Points, etc?

Sunday mornings are free over PS. You can attend chapel services if you like. Apparently they provide doughnuts, so there's an additional incentive to go! It is the one block of time during the week that Plebes have an opportunity to escape from their detailers.

I would be hesitant to say that the whole morning is free. I will wait for a mid to reply, but just be aware that it may only be like an hour for service. We got an hour of break during BCT and if you chose not to go, you would just go back to your room, but the detailers pretty much left you alone. They will give you the time, but be aware that it is only a short period and then it is back to the grind. My advice is to go to chapel even if you aren't religious. The chaplains are great, it is a chance to unwind away from the detailers for a little bit, and if you happen to fall asleep, the chaplains are okay with that. I am a USAFA cadet, so that is why I will wait for a mid to confirm or deny the amount of time during PS.
