I'm a US citizen living in Europe at the moment. I'm originally from Virginia, so I still had to compete for a nomination from the two senators and congressman there. I feel I'm in an awkward situation because, as I was told by someone who worked in USAFA admissions, the senators and congressman are slow to give a nomination to someone not currently linking in their state/district. So here I've completed my application in December (heard nothing from the academy yet) and received no nomination. Waiting to hear from VP nom though.
To get some insight into my application,
SAT 1300, GPA 3.7/3.8, (it's hard to convert European grades to gpa). Mostly A's and some B's. All my courses are at the highest available levels.
2nd degree black belt TKD + TKD instructor for 1 year.
Dinghy sailing and racing + yacht racing. I've been a volunteer sailing instructor for 4 years.
On crew team for 5 years.
Played for rugby team for 3 years.
Swimming for 1 year.
Red Cross member and volunteer + experience with ambulance duty.
Youth ministry leader.
Volunteer in local hospital and nursing home.
Volunteer with local tidy town committee.
I was an exchange student in France in 10th grade.
School club leader.
School government secretary + treasurer.
In charge of organising school prom.
And of course a passionate desire and determination to serve and protect our country in the USAF.
I would really appreciate any feedback. I know others have posted chance me threads, but living abroad, I'm not very familiar with the whole process of selection.
Thank you in advance.
By the way, is there absolutely no chance of attending the Academy without obtaining a nomination?
