USAF switching to OCP uniforms Apr 2021

Saw that! DD texted me and wanted to know whether she would get to wear her "new" sage boots that she has been breaking in for a month! I told her this sort of change is not "unheard of" in the military. :hammer:
I did read that the squadron patches are going to be used more - so that's cool.

The intel I'm receiving from the hill is that Class of 2021 and Class of 2022 will probably be grandfathered and wear their ABUs throughout their four years at the academy.

Warning: we are still in the rumor stage and it may be a while before the official policy regarding OCP migration USAFA cadets is released.

Your DD should be safe in continuing to break in her sage green boots as the OCPs as the migration does not start until 01-Oct-2018 (for most Airmen). I would be very, very surprised of the Class of 2022 were not issued ABUs when they report in June.

If it's anything like the switch to ABUs which my class enjoyed...the incoming basics in June of 2019 or 2020 (depending on supply, the Air Force is switching to issuing OCPs in October 2019 but sometimes USAFA is the guinea pig) will be issued OCPs while other classes will continue to wear ABUs to graduation, when they will be issued OCPs instead of new ABUs. This means that lucky class entering in 2019 or 2020 will be incredibly easy to spot as 4 degrees since they will pretty much be the only ones in OCPs. Sure makes sneaking through the air garden rather challenging. I think I might still be bitter ;)

Maybe...it is a more effective camouflage pattern! ;)
