Hi,
I'm new but have been stalking this website for months now. I am really out of options as my plan B has crumbled due to other circumstances and my plan C is very expensive especially for the financial situation that my family is in but nonetheless, I have yet to find a post like this one hence why I am asking it.

I have not heard a SINGLE thing from the academy, my ALO, or my nomination source. I am qualified in all three categories and have a senatorial nomination (even though I know that doesn't assure me for an appointment) and just need to know whether my plan C needs to become my plan A as it the end of March and I haven't received anything yet.

From my point of view, if the academy really wanted me, they would've told me by now and therefore should be expecting a white envelope within the next few days. Is this incorrect to think since the standard time for appointments is "anywhere between March and April"? I understand that I am not completely out of the game but the waiting game is really getting to the few thousand of us left who haven't heard a single thing (I think even the crickets packed up and went home).

I don't know if my case is different because I live in Colorado which is the most competitive state. From the USAFA 2022 thread, I have only noticed around four or five appointments being from CO (none of them senatorial) and wonder if they just haven't charged the slot yet for my senator but it's so late in the game that I definitely don't think that's it.

I apologize for my ranting but I really just need some advice from someone who is more of an expert than I am. I mean, I even went to USAFA Summer Seminar and I have all these cool things that make me super "qualified" but feeling this left in the dark just sucks. So I'm asking what I should do. Should I call my senator and ask him if he's heard anything... at all? I already emailed my ALO and my counselor from USAFA and have heard absolutely nothing so I'm at a dead end there. Should I be expecting my rejection and therefore follow through with a different plan by now? Should I just crawl up into a ball and just cry and hope that fixes everything?

Hi... my DS has heard nothing. He has 2 nominations and checks the portal several times a day. I can offer you no advice but can relate to how brutal the wait has been. You’re not out of it yet... best of luck and I hope you hear soon.

You’re not out until you receive a rejection. Until then focus on securing a college plan. Heck I got denied last year from USAFA and went on to enroll at a community college and AFROTC at a university. I know the waiting sucks but don’t pause your life waiting on USAFA. Life still goes on no matter what. The email will eventually come. Youve done everything you possibly could, it’s up to USAFA now. Just hurry up and wait.

My daughter has two nominations and we are still waiting on a decision as well... the waiting game is difficult at times.

Good Morning.
April can be a hard month for candidates who are still waiting. There are no magic tea leaves that can predict your outcome. You are truly Shrodinger's Cadet--maybe/maybe not.
It may look as if everyone else has posted a gleeful line in the Appointments thread--but the deadline for responses is 15 April--and after that there will be plenty of shuffling. The class is not finished being built yet. You won't know with great certainty until about 1 May. April can be a painful month.

Keep working out as is you are matriculating in fewer than 90 days. Enjoy your last months of high school and all of the momentous occasions (Prom, Graduation) or you time at civilian college or out in the service. Keep working on your other awesome educational plans like AFROTC at a great school or a year of prep school.

Do not lose faith. Try to stay cool. You are still in the running. Everyone here is keeping faith with you.

First time through the process heard nothing from anyone...MOC, admissions, ALO until rejection came around April 17. Second time through same crickets until April 15 when portal updated with appointment.
Pa ptmom...so was your second time through last year? My DD first time through was last year, got twe mid April, plan b was self prep got 3 noms and med qualified since Jan and still no news, we are so hopeful that good news will come soon, waiting is even harder this time.

Is it worth contacting my ALO about candidates receiving appointments in my district? Should I also contact my USAFA counselor to see where I stand in the process?

Yes, self-prepped after the first TWE, in April 2016.
Accepted April 15, 2017. A lot of grueling days, weeks and months just to get to the starting line.
The very best to you all!

There is an army recruiter who goes into my other daughter's (DS's sister) store frequently, who says he knows how the appointments for all the militaries work. When she told him today that my DS hasn't heard anything yet, he said that that's not good news and she probably won't receive an appointment. While we're realistic and we know that that may be the case, it was still like a kick in the stomach. Reading posts on here don't give us answers one way or the other regarding her outcome, of course, but the support and encouragement from folks on these threads effectively takes the pain of the kick away. Good Luck to everyone still waiting! And to those appointed and those who are/have been in, thank you for everything you do for us here.

It’s not over, until it’s over. Those that haven’t received a TWE are still in the game. I’m not saying it’s a guarantee that your DS will receive an appointment; but they haven’t said no either. In the meantime, make sure the plan b school is in place. It is very hard to watch the appointments posted without an answer, be positive!

So, he is a recruiter. He gets his Enlisted Evaluation Report based on how many recruits he signs up for enlistment. (Not that there’s anything wrong with enlisting!) The Mrine recruiters almost convinced the DS do delayed enlistment in Marines “because it would make your NROTC scholarship a ‘shew in”. Yeah, right, he got the scholarship without it. Take recruiters’ knowledge with a huge bunch of salt. Great guys, though!

What that recruiter said was extremely negative, there are candidates that end up recieving appointments all the way up to June. You're not out until USAFA says you're out. Keep your hope alive. This is my second go around at this process and I still have'nt heard anything either. It sucks, but I have faith.

Nope, no way. Don't give anything like that a grain of salt. Tell that recruiter to leave it up to the professionals. This is the arena of the USAF and the good people in Colorado. You're still in it until....
We are waiting too. I use this as our barometer. Data points right out of the USAFA. To me the best indicator. Where do you fall in the stats?

Good luck.

What is the difference between the candidate pool and a qualified candidate? - thanks

My son is a USAFA 2017 grad and two of his classmates were notified in late May and early June due to others not accepting appointments. I think they both even had rejection letters but both graduated from USAFA and one is now his roommate in pilot training and the other off being very successful, I am sure. I know this time is tough, but you just have to hang in there, have a back up plan, and keep hoping each day.

Candidate pool is all that are allowed to start an application. Qualified are those that finish the application and are medically, physically and academic qualified.
