Do you mind sharing his data points, GPA, ACT or SAT, extracurriculars, athletics, etc. what state are you from? Thanks and congratulations!!!

We are in PA. He interviews very well. He did great on his CFA, didn't max it because of the STUPID basketball throw.

my DD needs to turn in for Silver Congressional... she just can not reach that 400 community service hours...only thing preventing Gold🤨

My DS has all of the hours for Gold Medal, now just marking time until June. The Fire Department and National Youth Leadership Training Instructor have been great, and fun, ways to earn volunteer hours. The Gold Medal is no joke.

Happy to, we are all in this together. It's a full-time staff job helping him keep everything sorted.
Couldn't agree more!! I have a son who is a cadet fourth class at the Air Force Academy currently. His brother is a senior in high school applying to the Air Force Academy right now. Two years of going through this application stuff has been incredible!!

Wow! I honestly cannot believe it is already November. . .

I sometimes post some historical trends on how appointment notifications roll out for the folks that are members of this forum. I hope to do the same this year if I have the time. The process is MUCH easier if the format of the list is standardized, specifically the dates. I am a fan of using DD-MM-YEAR, but I get that isn't the traditional "U.S" way. Dashes are better than slashes to avoid confusion with other items in the list.

Alternatively, what if we added rows a table? Might be easier on the eyes. The only thing is that the width of the columns seems to be automatic.

Also, maybe we can get this thread pinned?

How do you get a LOA before a nomination? I’m still confused on a lot of this.
Parallel processes.

The SA can choose to give a Letter of Assurance at any point in the Admissions cycle, assuring the applicant of an offer of appointment and typically specifying certain conditions that must be met. Those conditions could be a nom, submitting a passing CFA, getting medically qualified for DoDMERB or others.

Meanwhile, the candidate is pursuing noms from every source they are eligible to apply to, whether elected representatives’ application processes, or submitting documents to the SA requesting a Presidential or other service-connected nom, or others.

At the same time, the applicant is submitting various required items for the application via the portal, going through the DoDMERB process, knocking out the CFA, watching the portal update as various required items are ticked off.

Though most mids and cadets never see an LOA, like unicorns, they can appear in a portal or via some other means, because the SA has seen something they like in the application, even if it is incomplete. The LOA essentially says, “We are saving you a seat in the class. Get these (list) done, and we’ll offer you an appointment.”

Don’t forget people can get nominations almost as soon as they apply for them very early in the cycle, from the nom categories that are simple matters of eligibility. The elected officials’ slates are due later in the cycle.

You may want to go to the Nominations forum and read the Sticky at the very top.

Portal GPA
Great! I have a 3.9 showing up in my portal with 9 AP classes and 15 honors classes. As for leadership positions and extracurriculars I think I have more than enough😅😅 I have already received a nomination from my father being active duty. All I gotta do is pass the CFA and I feel like I’ll have a decent shot.

I just sent in the Presidential Nomination paperwork for my DS. Somehow I misunderstood who was eligible. Fixed now, so, hopefully soon.

How long did it take USAFA to process your Presidential Nom?
