USAFA Cadets/Drug Charges

Not that I agree with it, but COULD it be because he has stated he only joined ‘to get better at football’ (not serve)? So could it be that therefore his ‘punishment’ is making him serve?

Because no discharge, kicked out of usafa and having to pay back just doesn’t make sense [emoji848]
Huge risk for the US Govt long run. Probably wind up costing far more over time. I would bet that there are more details yet to be revealed. This outcome would set a dangerous precedent.

Is anyone suggesting here that the SA’s desire to win games is related to a higher incidence of drug use amidst the SA’s? If so I’d like to see the data .

I'm in the boat with @Capt MJ. I think he will receive an other than honorable discharge after the confinement. It should be a bad conduct discharge, but there was probably some horse-trading going on for the leniency (even though that OTH would still plague him for the rest of his days, it would still be better than the BCD). Maybe he rolled over on some other folks who were involved in some nefarious dealings?

Been awhile since I spent time at the Naval Justice School Legal Officer Course, but we were told then that the Admin Separation with an Other Than Honorable characterization carries as much negative stigma as the Dishonorable Discharge of Bad Conduct Discharge. The reference to a pretrial agreement suggests some type of deal was cut . In any event , poor decisions have consequences. No sympathy here.

Administrative Discharge for Cocaine Possession? The only thing he'd be qualified for now is to sit on a Ukrainian Corporation Board of Directors or Maybe a Chinese Company's BOD.
Nah..... more likely to be named to a senior advisor position or cabinet member in the current White House. I hear there are many openings.

Too bad the cadet didn't get a longer federal sentence.... No good time or parole for federal crimes.

I'm pretty certain just like state sentencing, good time is accrued at 85% for federal prisoners, unless your sentence is under a year. I think Reagan stopped parole back in the 80's. Now judges just give a "supervised release" at the end of a light sentence.
