Hey all!
I am pretty new to this forum, but I have scoured a lot of the threads related to USAFA, particularly for information relating to the CFA. I couldn't find much information available for what girls have passed the CFA with, since most of the information was about male scores. I took my CFA a few days ago and just received confirmation that I passed it, so I thought I'd share my scores for any girls curious. I'm also guessing my basketball throw was near the minimum since it was significantly below the average score, so if you're like me and have practiced for a few months but still can't crack the basketball throw, I wouldn't sweat it too much as long as your other events are decent.

B-ball Throw: 24 ft
Pull-ups: 4
Shuttle Run: 10.5
Sit-ups: 88
Push-ups: 50
1 Mile Run: 7:58

Best of luck to everyone applying to USAFA class of 2024!

I have a DD that started like you on this forum and did her research as you are doing, which she is a now a Doolie USAFA class of 2023.

You have good numbers with you Pull-ups, Sit-ups, Push-ups....I would work on your B-ball throw and 1 mile run. I believe female average is over 45 on b-ball throw and the run is has to be better than 7:30. Now, I won't say it will keep you out but those two are below average.

Good luck on your application.

I would search youtube there are videos on how to get a better basketball throw. It significantly helped my DS in that area.

I don't remember my scores exactly, but your Pull-ups, sit ups and push ups are definitely solid. The 1 mile run is ok, but not great (I agree, under 730 would be good). The shuttle run is probably borderline and that BBall throw is nowhere near where it should be given your other scores. Those two events are the two that you can DRASTICALLY improve with just a little practice. Search youtube and this forum for threads on shuttle run and basketball throw technique and then spend some time learning how to do it.

@airforcebrat03 : How do you know you passed the CFA; did someone tell you? I ask because I don't recall that info being available to candidates.

@airforcebrat03, have you gone straight to the source? Last I checked, USAFA lists averages for males and females right on the website. Good lesson for others: While SAF can be incredibly helpful, your first stop should always be the primary source.

I think our poster is giving a report of what USAFA says has already passed, and she is indicating which low scores make the cut. In my DD's experience so far in this cycle, USAFA is most careful to not give any false hope - a warning email whether she wanted to submit her CFA scores from SLE, and then after a positive confirmation from DD, then they went and searched for the results - not a review first, but IMO a CYA that you, the candidate, requested and then confirmed again that you wanted the scores uploaded. DD was at first very confident that the overall was good and the low scores passing, but did a double take at the email wanting confirmation, and then decided with 4 of her best scores ever and 2 low scores, that composite may be her best effort so she'd rather risk submission and see if it passed before taking it again and not doing as well in the 4.

And we've heard ad nauseum to do the max, hit the averages, but i'm not the only parent chasing after bastketball throws yelling words of encouragement (catapult! visual in your mind! do the dab! get the bball done and you are on a roll! etc) and a spreadsheet of below average results, date, thread, etc. FYI 8:18 passed for USAFA.
