I have already submitted my CFA results and I fear they are not passing. I tried my hardest and I believe the rest of my application really shows I am a qualifying whole person candidate. Here are my results:

BB 62.7 feet
Pull ups: 4
Shuttle run: 8.7 secs
Sit ups: 41
Push Ups: 52
Mile: 6:27

Did I pass?

No way to tell

I have been looking at these posts for the past few weeks. A couple of folks here are very knowlegable about the AFA (Flieger, Christcorp), but the hard thing is that there are no published minimums. All you can do is to compare yourself to the mean and you will have a pretty good idea where you stand from there. You might want to ask your ALO about these results and see what they have to say.

Good Luck!

they don't tell you what failing is, but the averages let you know what they are looking for. averages are 69 for bball throw, 11 for pull ups, 8.8 shuttle run, 75 situps, 60 pushups, and 640 mile. those are the mean scores for candidates entering, meaning some are above and some are below. if they want you they can allow you to take the CFA over again to get better scores but that doesnt happen a lot.

Those are below average scores, especially in sit ups. You might have "passed" but that doesn't mean you had a good enough score. Let's hope the rest of your application stands out...

Hi!

I don't "BS" folks, I tell them straight...either my opinion or facts, if I have them.

So...that being said...this will "pass" but it's not stellar. IMHO you didn't kill yourself with these scores, but you didn't really do a lot to help either. Let me explain why I say this.

Your shuttle run and your mile run are GOOD! They would be helpful in your total score. Your basketball toss...eh...below the "mean" of appointee's but in my experience, that's not a terrible score, it'll "do."

Where you get "hurt" IMHO are the "strength" items: pullups, pushups, situps. Here your scores are well below the mean of appointee's. In the past, when we had "minimums" for passing your pullups would barely do it: the min was 3. And 50's were pretty much the min for situps/pushups.

Now? It's more of a "we'll take all the scores and give a final CFA point total" and then work that into the WCS for a "contribution" to the overall candidate WCS. NONE of us out here knows how that works. I know that there's a certain number of TOTAL points available on the CFA (I do not believe I'm allowed to say the number so I won't) and that number comes from your overall performance.

So...IMHO...you have two scores that I LIKE...one that I think is "okay" and 3 that are low. Did this "harm" you? I doubt it, but I don't think it'll do anything great either. Probably just a "he did it, fine, move on."

Did you do any sports in high school? I hear that takes some weight off of your CFA score.

If not, you're in a similar boat as me. And that's speaking about only the physical side, i'm sure our academics and extracurriculars are really different. But I've been pushing at the CFA all year, waiting until the weekend before deadline to finally do it. And I still only maxed one event (pushups) and got really close-but below average on everything else.

I feel like I did my best though, I nearly fainted after the mile. I was wiped all day. But I'm still worried since I only have a presidential nomination. Which also brings up the point that your score matters with who you're competing with too.

And just because sometimes you can find comfort in seeing how a very small sample of others compare to you, look around the forum for some more cfa scores. Mine are:
BBall throw: 67
Pullups: 7
Shuttle: 8.8
Situps: 70
Pushups: 75
Mile: 8:01

How'd I do flieger? :yllol: (my ALO hasn't emailed me back yet, I'm interested to see how an ALO that's not my dad thinks I've done)

PS. I'm male. And Original Poster, USAFA_Flath, you might want to speak up if you're female, because I'm sure your scores were judged on this forum under the assumption that you're male.

Thank You

I would just like to thank everyone for taking the time to respond to my concern. I have a little more confidence in my application, but there are still the normal nervousness. Yes I am a male and I am on the Varsity Volleyball team for my school. So we focus more on lower body strength which could be a reason for my low upper body strength. I feel though my academics do show huge potential. I have a's and B's while taking Honors and AP courses. I am active in a few clubs, including the debate team, BSA, and with my church. So i just pray that I will get accepted! I was told my applicaiton goes up for review this week so I am excited. How long does it take to hear their decision?

I think the sit ups are going to hurt you a bit...

It can take a few days or a few weeks. Here's why:
1. Everyone on your MOC slate must have a WCS before the MOC can be charged an apptmt.
~~~If someone still on the slate has yet to get a WCS it may impact you....depending on your WCS....slowing down the decision
~~~If you are the last to meet the board and win with your WCS it will be faster.

2. If you are on multiple slates, that means repeat #1.

3. If your WCS is high enough for the NWL, since you didn't win the MOC apptmt., you will have to wait until everyone on the NWL has met the board.

Highest WCS wins, just like MOC slates.

Nobody here can tell you if the BFE will be at your door on Sat.

My advice to anyone now waiting is to expect your highest chances of hearing now will be the Mass Mailing in March.

This is a giant jigsaw puzzle that the AFA is creating, a puzzle they don't know what it looks like until finished! They are now in the thick of it trying to fit those pieces which aren't the border.
