USAFA Class of 2020 Appointment Thread

If there is a post that you feel is inappropriate, then there is a little button at the bottom of every post that says "Report". If you click that, you can let a moderator know why you feel that a post is wrong.

My point is that it is not your function to tell another poster that their post needs to be moved. That is what there are moderators for on this site.

While I am discussing this, I think it's a good time to remind everyone here that the 5 moderators and one administrator who run this site do much more than yell at posters who get out of line. There is much work that is done in the background here to keep this site functioning and on track. All of the mods have other jobs (some of us more than one!), yet we spend from 10-30 hours each per week here reading posts, answering PMs, fighting spam, checking reported posts, and doing all the things that keep this site a good resource. And, none of us get paid to do it. Please keep that in mind before you go complaining that a single post doesn't seem to be in the right place.

I'm sorry I interfered; I didn't mean that I wanted you to move every post. I was under the impression that the poster could delete the post off this thread and repost it on a different one... I didn't mean for it to be a big deal. Sorry, and thank you for all that you do.

I'm from PA-18 and received appointment in February
If you don't mind me asking are you going to be playing a D1 sport for the USAFA or are you just a regular kid? I see a lot of responses for legacy's kids and I was wondering if they have gotten to the "general pool" of kids

My DD is not a "legacy" or an athlete--got her appointment in February also. Praying for all of those still waiting to hear--keep breathing!

Gballer 1+ As Dori would say, "Just keep swimming".

My DD is not a "legacy" or athlete either - received her appointment in December. I am rooting for everyone still waiting and IMHO, there is nothing "regular" about any of these kids athletes or not. :)

I agree with FalconsRock, there is nothing "regular" about any of these kids athletes or not.

I agree too, I said there were 3 from our HS who applied, I was wrong there are four, one just got his appointment March 16th, He was an athlete but not this year. His class rank is not as good as two of the others, they are 9th and first, also they are athletes, my DD does HS and club, yet he's in and they still wait... So we wait, and really as for us, if DD is suppose to be there then she will be. Have to trust in that.

Posted this in another thread but this is directly from my admissions counselor to all this waiting.

"Appointments are being offered from now to May. Non-select letters go out in April. I have no definite dates when all notifications will be sent."

I'm just a regular kid. No legacy either!

I'm sorry I didn't mean for anyone to take my "regular" as a downgrade, I am just stressed with the waiting because I know how hard my son and everyone else child has worked to get the nominations that they have. I am so very proud of everyone however I am somewhat jealous of the people who know as compared to those of us who are still in limbo. I pray every day that those of us who are still waiting receive some good news soon. GOOD LUCK to all!!

Gina, your DS was included in my comment of not being a "regular" kid. Any young person who goes through what they need to do to be competitive, land a nomination and FINISH the behemoth of an Academy application, is no regular kid. I hope you hear good news soon. Aim High!

All these young people are outstanding Americans. They are well-rounded, intelligent, motivated, ...... and they love this country enough to have applied to any of the academies to become very well-trained officers and to serve in our military. I agree- no regular kids here. We parents are very proud of them.:)

If someone could enlighten me on what DD and DS mean that would be great. I asked around and tried to look it up bu no luck and I feel like I'm out of the loop :)
