DD waiting along with you. Getting comfortable being uncomfortable. No word from USAFA. Time is running short. College planning is on "pause" at our house. So the break is nice.

It’s a constant weight on my shoulders as to what’s next, we have to plan for the worst.. reboarded 4 times for AFROTC scholarship, nothing from
Academy, accepted into a school we can’t pay for without the scholarship, holding for at the very least a prep spot or falcon spot, not knowing how to proceed forward with life as time ticks away

Got a Plan C? Another College or Gap Year? Community College? Civilian Work Force? Enlist?

Plan C is to do 2 yrs community college ( it’s free ) and join Rotc as a walk on and re-apply. It’s the route she really doesn’t want to think about taking. Self prep at NWP is an option I’ve looked into also.

Like previously mentioned USAFA is financed for 4000 spots so I’d imagine the rolling decisions allow for them to best gauge and fill appointments where necessary. If they have so many decline an offer then they can send out so many acceptances in the next batch and so on

What does reboarded 4 times mean?

It is for an AFROTC scholarship, if they deem you not competitive enough during your board they will either deny you for a Scholarship they will send your file to the next board to try again

I believe all the self preps got into a service academy the year my dd was at NWP. As a self prep they encourage you to apply to all the academies. Not that much of a gamble if your willing to work hard and improve your application.

My daughter did self prep at NWP. It is a great option especially if she needs to strengthen her act/sat scores. The Durbeck’s are great and really help the kids achieve their potential.
