Hello I'm kind of new to this forum but I finally have a question. I'm very active in my high schoo'ls drill team. So I'm just wondering If the AFA has a full drill team. I looked on youtube but all I could find was a sabre team and armed exhibition teams. Thanks for your time...

From the AFA website:

-- Cadet Sabre Drill Team
-- Cadet Honor Guard
-- Cadet Honor Guard Sabre Drill Team
-- Cadet Rifle Drill Team

Teams

There are basically two teams. The sabre drill team and honor guard. Honor guard does some sabre stuff when the sabre drill team is unavailable but not very much. There is a rifle team, but it is not drill.

I just looked at the sabre team. They look amazing. I've never really handled a sabre before but I think I should start learning. Honor guard looks great also. Could a 4* be on any of these teams?

Honor Guard does have drill competitions though.

A 4th Class Cadet has to earn his or her spot on one of those teams, and it's not easy or a sure thing.
One can expect a high magnitude of physical / mental training in addition to regular 4 degree training.
Once you finish through the harrassment, the team becomes your second family.

I am not Honor Guard, but two of my freshmen squadmates went through it last year.

Sabre Vs Honor Guard

Not to be biased or whatnot, but I am currently a sabre drill team candidate which means that I am a freshman and sabre drill is way better than honor guard in a lot of ways. We are an extremely close knit group and the comradery is incredible. If you have any questions about it feel free to pm me.

Would it be possible to leave USAFA for a day or two in order to compete in the ISIS World Drill Championships down in Daytona, Florida. It's in early May every year.

I can recall seeing someone in an USAFA shirt in a montage video a long time ago.

So in order to not be biased you were just going to tell everyone that your team is better for no particular reason?

Would you care to share why?

i agree. how can you possibly say something like that without listing reasons? also since you're a freshmen, how do you really know what's going on in Honor Guard if you're not even on that team and haven't interacted with them?
