Hey guys
I haven't found anything on the forum about this topic, so here is my situation:
I recently received an email stating that I was nominated to attend the USAFA FVE(see title) and that it was only offered to a handful of "diverse" students. I immediately got excited upon reading the email and after filling out most of the required forms and sending them back to the original sender, I went for a run. When I finished my run I looked up the program and wasn't able to find information specifically on the FVE,(I do most of my pondering during a run) but I did find the Diversity visitation program (DVP) under outreach programs on the USAFA website. After skimming through the content, my eye caught onto this bundle of words: "if you have been to USAFA for the ... Summer seminar... You are not eligible for this program."
So my question goes out to any USAFA official (or anyone for that matter) who moderates the website: am I still eligible for the FVE even though I attended the seminar?

Congratulations JestFutureFalcon. I would take that as an honor.

You pose a great question. My DD also received that nomination today and filled out all the paper work. She too went to SS and is very excited about returning for the FVE. I certainly hope that both of you are still able to go.

Jest, I have been pondering your question and have come to a conclusion (I could be wrong, but seriously doubt it.) The Academy would not extend congratulations to you and my DD and nominate you both to attend FVE and then after receiving your paperwork say, "Sorry, just kidding, you already went to SS, so stay home". I just don't think it goes that way. I would be very surprised and extremely disappointed if that occurred.

It is obvious that the AFA is very interested in the two of you and they are definitely trying to let you know it by offering you this opportunity. I guess we will soon find out. My DD is very excited. Perhaps the two of you will cross paths on your adventure.

I do feel very honored about being offered this. I was extremely happy when I read the initial email because I always (and still do) thought my application is just average. This mindset helps keep me working to improve myself, but the fact that it was offered to me sort of calms my nerves.
I agree with you. If they only sent out a handful of invites, then I'd hope they knew who they sent it to lol. I was thinking maybe it's called the FVE because they just changed the policy of the DVP. The DVP was only a three day program vs the FVE which is a 4 day. And who knows? I probably will meet your daughter at some point. After all I think it'd be pretty easy to spot a high schooler out from a group of USAFA cadets

Just got anther email that I can't go because of the summer seminar. They said specifically:
Good Morning,

Unfortunately, the Falcon Visitation Experience is for first time visitors to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Please understand that you were nominated because you are a very strong applicant, therefore, you will be added to our mentee list with high priority. Good luck with your application process!

Talk about a killjoy. Oh well at least I know they want me

Yep! DD just received the same email. Indeed a killjoy, but way to stay positive. Now on to being a good mentee. Good luck with your application and hopefully you and DD will be classmates :). Aim High!
