This is such a great site. Since I am only a sophomore, I have a little time left. Okay it really feels like no time at all. I have actually been plannning to go to the USAFA for years, but have been especially focusing on it since last September.

I am a military brat from CO and just about to pin on my Eagle Scout rank. I am also home-schooled. I am excited to take Philosophy this year and Chemistry is turning out to be much more interesting than I would have guessed.

I also like to run in road races, but my mom, who went to USMC OCS, says that I am slow. My USAF dad says I am fast. I think I will believe my mom.

Air Force Falcons Rule!

Haha welcome to the site buddy. You will learn a whole lot here. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I'm a freshman at University of Maryland in AFROTC but I know a lot about the admissions process (I was nominated to USAFA but didn't get the coveted appointment).

O yes and you will love Philosophy. I took it 2 yrs in H.S. and loved it.

You made me giggle with the comment of you have little time left. You are a sophomore, our DS didn't start this route until school was almost out (May) of his JR yr. in hs.

You are so ahead of the game that is insane. Right now work on taking the hardest home school courses possible. ALSO, get SPORTS on your resume.

The WCS stands for WHOLE CANDIDATE SCORE, athletics and EC's are a part of that score.

Apply next yr for SLS as a jr., rising sr.

The only problem I see is CO is very very competitive for noms.

A far as running, Mom is a marine, Dad is AF...tell me again which branch are you applying to? You should strive to be above Dad and close to Mom for max purposes, but don't sweat either. The max for CFA is 5:30 for a mile. That should be you goal, not the folks and their opinions on if you are too slow or just fine.

Welcome to the site, but for right now, keep the AFA in your sight, but just be a kid, because trust me in 3 yrs from now when you are doing 100 butterfly kicks at BCT you will regret not being a kid.

Hey there,

Great to see you looking ahead at what you need to do. Keep up that motivation and get all the info you can get. I am also from CO Springs so feel free to ask me about the competition in this area. One piece of quick PT advice. Do not cheat yourself on push-ups. Go all the way down and lock it out at the top, even if it cuts the amount you can do in half, just do it. It will help you so much.

Later,

Brian
