I received a Letter of Assurance from the USAFA this past weekend (I'm not a recruited athlete so this was a pleasant surprise). I am at the moment medically disqualified though, and because of my medical disqualifications West Point said they couldn't waiver me about a month ago, ending my application to West point. A couple of weeks ago I sent in the last of my remedials requested by the USAFA to DoDMERB, which they then forwarded to one of the USAFA's doctors. I was hoping that I received the Letter of Assurance at the time I did because after looking over my remedials and what not, they saw that my disqualifiers were waiverable, making me that much more appealing in regards to sending me a Letter of Assurance. I was wondering if anyone has any information on the timeline for this process or if I have a chance at getting the waivers necessary for admission to the USAFA, as I'd love to attend but I don't want to get my hopes up if it is extremely unlikely I'll be able to attend (as West Point calling me to say that they wouldn't waiver my disqualifers really put a dent in my confidence)?

So, the USMA thing happened with my DS. They rejected a waiver request and closed his file. He’s still in the running for USAFA and has a nom but no LOA. I’m wondering if your USAFA portal shows a waiver has been requested. Sorry I can’t answer your question, but thanks in advance for answering mine! Congrats in LOA!

My application portal simply said medically disqualified but my DoDMERB portal says under waiver review or something to that degree

His says Under Waiver Review but was told that doesn’t mean that a waiver has been requested, rather just that his info is all queued up for if/when one is requested. I think in your case, since you’ve received an LOA that they either have or will be requesting one.

Yes, the USAFA portal will reflect that they are pursuing a medical waiver. The DoDMERB portal may take some time to update this status.
