USAFA New Tab on application SAT Scores

I don't know what's up with mine. I took the SAT but they put in in ACT format for the individual subject areas. When I lined up what they showed me with an SAT/ACT conversion table but it does not add up to what my scores were on my SAT. Does anyone know how they converted them? Are they percentile?
I posted this in another thread asking this same question - hope this helps with people that took the SAT to understand their scores that are reported in their portal:

Yes we understand the SAT composite scores and how those were split, the problem was in the new tab that showed up on his application portal today it split the SAT into math, reading and writing, all based off of the 40 point maximum test scores, not the 800 max section scores. We didn’t realize they were using the test scores section off of his SAT score report, we thought they converted his math and reading scores to equate to ACT point system. But luckily Candd82026 pointed that out for us and I just looked at both of his SAT score sheets to see where his percentiles were based on those numbers. Fingers crossed they are high enough and he gets a nomination, and appointment 🤞
I just realized what you were taking about ...I just saw the tab with the SAT scores (my son had seen awhile back) converted into 3 act scores. I honestly now sure how they configured it ...but I see how they got his math score if 40 is the highest possible.

They’re not ACT scores. If you download your SAT score report it will show you the numbers given on the tab. They are out of 40

My son has his full report so I’m sure he knows what they are. I just realized what the person who I was responding to was talking about as I never saw that section before. Thanks.

Yah it is strange they used the subscores, but also nice because it can create an even higher superscore.

First off, the SAT sub scores (out of 40) converting to the section scores (out of 800) is not as confusing mathematically as it may first seem. No differential equations required, just look at your sub scores and do this conversion:

-Add up Reading and Writing sub scores and multiply that by 10
-Multiply math sub score by 20

Boom, now you have your section scores out of 800! So a Reading of 30 + Writing of 32 works out to be a 620 with a Math sub score of 37.5 being a 750. And these sub scores have nothing to do with the ACT. Hope that helps ease anybody's confusion.

Second, I have a question of my own on that. Does anyone know if they will split up the test dates for Reading and Writing or do they have to be from the same date? I had one day with a 40 on writing, and they are displaying my reading score from that day too, but it's not my highest. And, even if they can only taking reading and writing from the same day, that's still not my highest combined score. I have asked about it twice with Team Blue, but I'm afraid they're not really getting my question. They just keep telling me to make sure that SAT sent them all, which they clearly did and is not the problem. It's just a matter of "interpreting the data" as the SAT likes to say. Any advice on how to get it fixed? Thanks.

Yes exactly, I posted up above and in another forum post how to figure this out and how with the splitting into the three subsections, you can get an even higher superscore.

That explains it in pretty good detail if anyone has questions. Now to answer your question, yes they will split up reading and writing from separate days to give you a higher score, my boy had three tests and got the best overall. So for example, let say your test scores were as follows:
Test A math 34, reading 40, writing 32
Test B math 35, reading 38, writing 35
Test C math 36, reading 38, writing 34

Then your new supercore would be: Math 36, reading 40, writing 35 - overall superior SAT 1470

My son's were not superscored like that. They have his highest math, and his reading and writing scores from his highest EBRW score. They did not superscore his reading and writing from separate tests. If they had, he'd add another 40 points to his superscore.

It depends on the SAT report you ordered to be submitted to the school. Make sure you ordered Super Score (send all test results) instead of sending one specific score. DS only took two tests (was hard to order tests in CA) but submitted all scores. His portal showed all the highest sections (super score).

You were right! DS and I checked to see if his latest score was sent to USAFA and it wasn't. I think he didn't send it becuase it was lower than his other 2 scores. Looking at the subscores, we discovered that his writing score was way higher than his previous tests and sent it immediately. The new score hit his portal today causing a 40 point increase in his overall score (from a 690 EBRW to 730). DS is super happy! He'll take every point he can get!

So are we saying that the two scores that make the EBRW can be superscored in a way that you might use different test sittings for Reading and another for the writing and Writing/Language?

Yes, USAFA automatically superscores all three sections (math, reading, writing & language) for you. Both of my boys saw a bump in their combined scores in the portal. I haven’t run across any other school that superscores in this manner.
