USAFA Prep Questions

Good evening, I was currently offered a spot at the USAFA Prep school and was curious to see what would be recommended to bring?
 
Hey there, and congratulations! I am currently a preppie and would be glad to answer any questions you've got.

As far as bringing items, as others have mentioned, just bring what is on the list. Any other items can be shipped if needed. If you have a car and would be able to drive here, I would HIGHLY encourage you to do so. Apart from being your own transportation to explore the Springs, you can also store things in it such as civilian clothes you'll be allowed to wear later on.

For an appointment do you need another nomination and to retake your SAT’s?
 
do u have to have a nomination like congressional or senate inorder to get into even a prep school usafa? my son is all qualified medical, cfa, decent sat/act but only has presidential nomination. Were still candidate complete thanks
 
No do not need a nomination for the prep or the falcon foundation. However, I have heard of nominated candidates unable to secure direct appointments being offered the falcon foundation scholarship. On the flip side, I have also heard of nominated candidates not receiving direct appointments not being offered the falcon foundation scholarship.

Yes you will have to apply for a nomination again, however nothing else. You do need a nomination to get to the hill, however, your teachers will help you, just keep them posted when you will have your interview so they can let you out of class if needed. My DS was at the prep last year

Do you have a copy of last year's list? I understand the packet will take 6-8 weeks to get.
 
Yes I do. I can send you both the packing list, along with a copy of the Appointee Reporting Instructions, as it also has a list of things to bring and explains what not to bring. You can cross reference both and you'll be pretty much set!
