I was wondering what percentage of applicants are actually appointed. How many of these applicants become candidates? how many candidates get nominations? and how many nominees get appointed? Thanks everybody! :thumb:

The break-down is on the admissions site I believe. Ultimately, about 15-18% enter on I-day of the total pool.

i couldn't find it on the admissions site. and what pool is this? total applicants? candidates? nominees?

I believe I read that 9000 open pre-candidate, 6000 are eligible. 3000 complete. 2000 receive noms. 1700 selected and 1200 admitted. So in the end 15% from the beginning to end become cadets. My numbers might be off.

All throughout this process my father tends to be the one constantly referring back to the numbers. So many get in out of this many, you have made the cut so your percentage is this, etc. No doubt its good info to know but dont look directly at the odds and percentages because when it comes to the service academies the odds are overwhelmingly discouraging. At this point if I look at the odds I am feeling pretty good, 1700 out of 2000 get appointed that have nominations. But no matter which way ya dice it up it all comes out the same, theyre odds and there is a solid line between your odds, you make it or you dont, with no in between. Harsh in reality but ya gotta look at odds with the attitude I approach with, no matter what they are and no matter how ridiculous they seem, they were meant to be broken. The men and women at the academies broke those odds, and I certainly hope you do as well flyboy... :thumb:

PIMA's numbers are pretty close to the real ones. Add a few to each and that's what I remember the numbers being.
