USAFA reapplicants

That's odd! No doubt call was received. Sure it was not an offer for USAFA Prep? At the time call was received and offer made over the phone, was the offer status visible on your portal info? Was a screenshot taken? Anyways, USAFA would have a record of ant offer/decline made.

I honestly didn't look at the portal. Anyways, I think the portal info get archived by July 1 as thats when the new application period opens. Either way, everything happens for a reason and I certainly am not looking back on it. Hopefully, this time I will have a little bit more time to make a decision!! Had that call come 2 weeks prior, my response would certainly have been different.

Make no mention of the July 10 'offer of appointment' date. It will cause more head scratching than anything.

Best wishes to you. Keep us posted.

I have some unique insight in that I have a Junior in the Corps at A&M and a C4C at the Academy. My junior had a friend who was a fish with her at A&M and reapplied to the Academy their freshman year and was accepted (now a C3C). I know there are some staff officers at the Trigon who have some experience with this. I'm not sure about the COs, they probably don't know much but you never know. If you want to PM me I may be able to help you some, or point you in the right direction.
Thank you!

Its actually an odd situation. I received the TWE the end of April, 2017. I held out hope for a late appointment but never got one. So, I committed to plan B at a 4 year university on a scholarship. Around July 10th, I received a phone call from USAFA asking if I was still interested in an appointment and that I had to make a decision right then on the phone. At that point, I had already made several commitments and given zero time to consider it, I turned it down. I certainly didn't expect that phone call and felt at that very moment, I made the best decision I could.
You most likely were offered a Falcon Scholarship not an appointment to the Academy. Research what you were really offered by calling your counselor. Then explain why you took the route you took in the third essay. Many individuals do not understand what a Falcon Scholarship is and the acceptance rate shows that (~60%). Many perceive a scholarship at another University a better option, but if you really wanted to go to the Academy, the Falcon Scholarship is a great route. That is water under the bridge now. Explain your thinking and you will be ok. If you reapply and don't explain why you turned down a Falcon Scholarship, it may be perceived as a minus.

Sigh... son is trying to get his nomination apps finished by October 6 deadline. His squadron had to do flag and guard duty, then midnight yell last night. He was finishing senator essays in the middle of the night. Then Fish had call at 6:00 am. Then unit BBQ, march in and then Aggie football game (mandatory) today. I think being in Corps at A&M is preparing him well for potential life in the academy. He had his first honors chemistry exam and scored a 95. He can do this!

Just need to squeeze an extra few hours out of the day to finish these nomination packets to make it happen!

I think you're right.
We received a call that same time period, caller ID said Air Force Academy or something like that. I answered the phone, and the woman must've thought I was DS, and offered him a Falcon scholarship. I explained that I was not DS but his father, and she asked if I knew what the scholarship was? I said basically yes, but that DS was already going through Beast at WP and would not be accepting, but thanked her. After some jokes about each school we hung up.
DS did not have a nomination to USAFA , but I guess they wanted him anyway and figured the Nomination would come the following year. He's happy where he's at and grateful for the offer!
Seemed very odd timing for all those who got that offer so late. I think the OP stands a good chance to get an offer if grades and everything remains strong. No one can be faulted for turning that offer down when they're already committed to and are executing their plan B.
Best of luck USAFA2021orbust!
