    Hello Everyone,
I was just filling out my app for the summer seminar, and I was wondering if there is any financial aid possible for the flight out there and back (I live in Chicago) or aid for the cost of the camp?

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for having a good chance of getting into the SS?

By the way, I just joined, so hello to everyone here and thank you for letting me join this. I hope to use this as a resource to eventually get my appointment into the USAFA! :)

    Have a great day,

    SS fees

There is a USAFA admissions facebook page. There are many posts about SS and one of the moderators of that page probably could answer your question.
I would imagine there would be some type of need based aid.

Also, on other forums, we have noticed folks saying that they are working now to put aside money to cover their travel cost and SS fee IF they get in. However, with sports, scouting, etc. part time jobs might be hard to maintain. Perhaps a seasonal job now?

one option: You may want to look into S.A.M.E. This is in Jack's Valley (training complex on the grounds of the United States Air Force Academy used for military field training) and you would be sponsored by the Chicago Post of the Society of Military Engineers. They pay you airfare and the attendance cost is less, still giving you an opportunity for a week there. It is run primarily by US Airforce personnel. However, it is only one per post (There are only two posts in in northern Illinois)-and the application process is far more rigorous than the USAFA SS application.

    Good Luck

Contact the Admissions Office and explain yor situation, they may be able to help you. Also if live closer to West Point and the Naval Academy, that is an option, as well.

    Sorry No

There is no financial aid for transportation to attend SLS. Its is your responsibility. But you could look for a grant or scholarship from your local AFA alumni.
