Congrats to those accepted for the Summer Seminar. I used to conduct tours of the aero propulsion labs for summer seminar students. I generally found that if I were to ask, "How does a jet engine generate thrust?", of Summer Seminar students, I would frequently get the right answer. However, if I asked the same questions of second class cadets taking a core course (Engineering Thermodynamics), I had a 50% likelihood of getting a correct answer. I came to the conclusion, based on very limited data, that Summer Seminar students seemed to be better prepared academically than those that accepted appointments. I could never explain why Summer Seminar students did so much better with that question than cadets. I wish the Summer Seminar students the best as they consider their academy options. Good luck!
