My DS Accepted his slot in this summer's USAFA Summer Seminar a couple of weeks ago but hasn't heard anything about which week, payment etc etc. Did we miss something or has that info not been sent out yet?

His week should be listed in his acceptance letter found in the portal (click "view decision letter"). Also in that letter is the link to the registration kit.

Did he receive an email regarding the payment for the actual program? I have yet to get one so I was curious.

I read on the portal that you can request to switch to a different week, and that they are flexible? I am going to the USMA SLE Session 1 from June 3rd to 9th, and USAFA notified me of acceptance to the June 6-9th session. How would I go about requesting a change to session 2 for USAFASS?

DS will be declining the offer with reluctance. He was accepted into session 3 which is virtual and that overlaps with the USNA summer seminar. Since there are no other virtual sessions, then he is kind of stuck. What I have a problem with is when he selects the option to decline the offer, some of the following reasons pop up: “there aren’t enough people like me at USAFA,” “I will attend a more prestigious university,” “other schools offer better academic facilities,” or “parents/guardian advised against attending USAFA.”

These and most of the remaining options are akin to the question “Have you stopped beating your wife? Yes or no?” I reached out to admissions and asked for guidance because none of these responses reflect the true reason for declining the offer. There is no option to select “other” and just fill in the reason.

Yes, I understand that the official stance of accepting/declining USAFA summer seminar has no bearing on one’s application. Regardless, it does give one pause and could argue that there is an integrity issue in that none of the available options to decline are not the true reason.

Hello. I was wondering the same thing. My DS received the invitation and the registration packet. We know which Session he is in but we haven’t received additional information on payment collections. We don’t want to make a mistake and miss that information. Does anyone know when and how payments for the USAFA SS are made? Thank you.

Last year payment by cashiers check sent via snail mail was required. All the information comes very slowly. The agenda for the week didn't arrive until a couple days prior to start. Be patient. Info comes slowly, but eventually arrives.

We still have not received anything regarding payment. Glad to see we are not the only ones. MDRDV was kind enough to provide information that the payment information comes through snail mail, slowly. I will post when I receive something. Thank you.

Point of clarification; you'll be sending payment in the form of a cashiers check snail mail. Notification for payment from USAFA last year was via email about a month out from arrival date.

Hi,

Your DS will be declining the offer of appointment--or just to Summer session?

Is everyone still waiting for information regarding payment? DS eagerly accepted and filled out everything, but still nothing on payment.
We have not received any info on payment either. All the registration has been completed except for that.

My DS has the same issue for the exact same reason. He is still very interested in applying to USAFA and does not feel comfortable with any of the answer options given. Did you hear back from the Admissions office about your concerns?

Facing a similar dilemma as a couple other people, the provided Summer Seminar timeline provided (Session 1) conflicts with preexisting commitments. Plus, and correct me if I'm wrong, the USAFA Summer Seminar FAQ states the following:

Will I get to select which session I want to attend?

If you are selected, there will be a follow-up email requesting your preference. Our registration team does its best to meet student preferences, but there is no guarantee.
;and,

Can I swap Summer Seminar sessions once accepted?

It is not guaranteed, but if there is another student who is willing to do a one-for-one swap between sessions, it may be considered if resources can support the change.
There was no follow-up email requesting a preferred session for us. We've attempted to communicate with them about swapping via the contact information provided, but there've been no replies so far.

Just food for thought, if people in the same situation start listing what session dates they're initially assigned to, but cannot attend, and what session dates that could work for them here; then, it may help with coordinating a swap or at least knowing that it may be possible.

I recently reached out to them to ask about payment information and they replied that it would be sent out mid-April!

He ended up not selecting any of the options and was still able to decline. Admissions and the Summer Seminar folks have yet to respond to my inquiry about the aforementioned subject.

How bout we tried to decline summer seminar because of conflicting dates with Boys State….and there’s no option at “bottom of acceptance letter” to accept/decline. What now?!

Hello! Hope everyone is doing well. Has anyone received any information on payment regarding the USAFA Summer Seminar for 2023? I know they previously mentioned it would be sent out mid-April but so far nothing showed up in my inbox.

Still waiting as well. I am thinking maybe after they finalize the offers for class of 27, then they will move on to the Summer Seminar.
