I applied to Summer Seminar in December. In February I received a notification saying I have been waitlisted.
Has anyone else been waitlisted and heard back from their waitlist status?
Also does anyone know the likelihood of being selected off the waitlist?
I still have the waitlist status in my portal

I don't have any statistics for you but my DS was taken off the waitlist last year about 8 or 9 days after being waitlisted. Worth the wait. Good Luck!

I was originally not accepted to USAFA SS this year, not even a waitlist. However, I called up admissions as soon as possible to ask how I could improve my application. This then led to admissions somehow reviewing my file again, and a few weeks later I got a call back from the admissions office saying they had changed their mind and decided to accept me. Moral of the story, a phone call or email never hurts to prove your interest, and it may even help move you off the waitlist. In my case, contacting admissions again got me from declined to accepted and now attending USAFA SS session 2 this summer. Unfortunately though, I had to decline my WPSLE offer to attend USAFA SS, as I will be attending Texas Boys State and NASS session 1 as well in June.

I contacted them via email a few minutes ago and hopefully I can get a general idea of what’s going on. I was also waitlisted for NASS a little over a week ago so hopefully I get good news.
I was turned down by SLE, and also applied to AIM and have yet to hear back from AIM.

Hopefully you can get off both and maybe I will see you there this summer. I would assume the chances of getting in off the waitlist are higher than one would think just because of the summer conflicts that many applicants have, or the cost of attendance, but I don't know for sure. I wish someone had that answer but it seems like summer seminar is a program that nobody really seems to have the statistics for. It seems like SS in particular is kind of a mystery in waitlist terms or who gets in and who doesn't. From the information that I have encountered from many sources, it seems like SS accepted and those waitlisted have a better chance than normal of getting in to said academy, but obviously it is by no means a guarantee. Good luck to you!

Thank you! I appreciate it and hope I get off the waitlist for at least one of them because receiving and opportunity like this is something I would greatly appreciate.

You're welcome! Happy to have at least offered some advice from personal experience. I really hope you can get off the waitlists, too. I can't wait to see what SS actually looks like because I can only find so much information on it from YouTube, the academy website and the forum, but I'm sure it's definitely an amazing experience.

I really hope I get off the waitlists too! Experiencing this is something I’ve waited for all throughout high school. Seeing what SS is like will definitely be exciting and an unforgettable experience because youtube and the forum only have so much info. Let’s hope I hear back soon with a response to my email !

Well, some unfortunate news.
After contacting admissions I never received an email back. It’s been awhile too but I do understand they might be busy.
However, my application status for SS changed. I logged into my portal and I am no longer waitlisted but now it says not selected :(
I never received an email notifying me of this change.
But hey, I tried and that’s what matters.
Time to take on the application and prepare for that

I had a similar experience with the Naval Academy Summer Seminar except i was waitlisted first. I emailed someone with admissions, he said they would look at my file again, and the next day i was accepted.

Please do not view this as a sign that you will not be successful in the the Academy admissions process. Our son was rejected for SS but was accepted to USAFA and now is in pilot training. Our other SA son went to SS and received an appointment but ended up at another SA. He thought the week was more like summer camp and saw many at SS that were in really poor physical shape. It is a recruiting tool....nothing more than that.

Dang I’m sorry. Like you said, at least you tried and that’s all you have the power to do. As has been said many times, SS has no effect as far as points on your actual application, so definitely don’t get discouraged. However, as has also been suggested, try to attend boys/girls state because that DOES give you points on your application. Doesn’t feel good to get rejected but SS is more an outreach tool for the academy so don’t sweat it.

Unfortunately for Girls State in my state, the deadline is very long gone and has passed. But it’s okay just time to focus on the application I guess. I appreciate everyone’s help though!
I’m still waitlisted for USNA Summer Seminar aNd USCGA AIM so I’m hoping for the best, if not at least I’ve tried

That’s alright, obviously nothing is absolutely necessary for acceptance. You’re on the right path and doing everything you can do to make it. In my opinion that’s the biggest part is your dedication and your drive to succeed. Keep up the good work!

I was wait listed last year on March 1st, and got word back around May 15th.
