I have been researching a lot about the AFA, I am still only 14, and I noticed that they have a summer seminar. I know that you go the summer after your junior year, but can someone please explain more about it? Does it cost money apart from the flight costs?

From AcademyAdmissions.com:

The registration fee for Summer Seminar is $300.00. This fee pays for your room and all meals, as well as workshop supplies and seminar “uniforms” and accessories.

You are responsible for arranging your own transportation to and from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Students may fly commercial, drive themselves, or be dropped off at the Academy by parent(s) or other responsible individual(s). If you are selected and accept our offer, more detailed travel instructions will be provided.

Adding to what Dad was saying...

Going along with what Dad was saying,
AcademyAdmissions.com
the summer seminar is found to be harder to get into than the Academy itself. This comes from many sources, two of which are books entirely on the USAFA.

Oops, Forgot to post, but one of those book is Skys To Conquer: A Year Inside the Air Force Academy.
Sorry, Tyler

Books

Another good book is "The Air Force Academy Candidate Book: How to Get In, How to Prepare, How to Survive" by Sue Ross. I just recently got it and love it so far!

I second the recommendation for "The Air Force Academy Candidate Book." It is very helpful for me as a candidate/appointee. Both of my parents also read and enjoyed the book. Since they didn't really have anything to do with my application process, they found it to be very insightful.
