USAFA Summer Seminar

Hello
Is there a high correlation between getting accepted into USAFA Summer Seminar and getting an appointment into USAFA(given that you get a nomination)?
USAFA Summer Seminar acceptance rate was far lower than USNA Summer Seminar acceptance rate. This makes me to believe that the chances of you getting into the Summer Seminar and getting into the actual school is very high.
I have heard that going to USAFA Summer Seminar does not help your chances of getting into the academy. I have also heard it does help your chances of getting in and the admissions board has seen your name before but the academy cannot say this.
Any responses will help.
Thank you all.
What they told us at USAFASS was that while they don't intentionally select for it, those that attend SS typically are appointed/accept appointments at higher rates than those who do not attend.
I went to USAFASS and I dont remember them saying that :/ . My squad leader might have not told us that. I don't remember the admissions officer saying that either. I might have missed it.
For our session this year the question was asked towards the very end and one of the gentlemen said while it's not intentional, about 80% of those that go to the SS end up being appointed.

@Bhilb, I believe 80% is the most that even file an application. (Many are there to just kick the tires or even just pad their resume.)

Another poster, way up top, also said they heard that 60% of the offers made are to SS attendees. They also said some 700 attend SS. So simple math: If USAFA accepts 1600 (presuming 75% yield to achieve entering class of 1200), then 960 of them supposedly attended SS — or 260 more than actually attended SS.

So no, I don’t believe that number is accurate, with all due respect to the gentleman who said it.

From an ALO, that speaks with USAFA/RRS routinely....that's not accurate, according to what we're told by the admissions folks.

I can tell you from personal experience that often, many of the folks that are selected for SS do not meet the entry requirements for USAFA. This is a recruitment tool at times; an opportunity to expose a student from a school that's not represented in the cadet wing, and many MANY other reasons. Do not try to equate SS as an indicator of your appointability to USAFA; you will be wrong only 100% of the time.

I can quite the Director of Admissions, the Deputy, etc., but bottom line is this: the selection board does NOT see that you were a candidate for SS, attended, or did not. I had that answer from the Deputy Director of Admissions in the past.

I don't believe for one second that
about 80% of those that go to the SS end up being appointed.
.

I have known about 15 people from nearby high schools who went to AFASS - two gained appointments of the 13 who went on to apply.

Neither of my sons went to SS for any SA, though neither applied (since at the time it conflicted with the US Fencing Asso Summer National Championships).
