USAFA Uniform Question?

But since golf requires a collared shirt and nice shorts, belt, etc., PT clothes won't work. I can't imagine golf is not allowed--so I figure the polo and shorts is "special required attire" not unlike a ski parka and pants?

False. I remember going to the golf course in PC gear or taking someone along with who had to wear PC gear. That's a special exception. They are fully aware of the requirement and don't need to argue with the three star that 4 digs in PC gear shouldn't be allowed.

Sorry, didn't mean to come across as arguing! Are you talking about golfing at the Academy course? I am referring to a private course elsewhere--wondering if the private course would accept a player without a collared shirt. I guess anywhere in the area they are familiar with cadets.

That's all, didn't want to offend--just trying to make sure sons and hubby can get a game in (favorite bonding activity) while sticking to the Academy rules.

Don't worry. Cadets, including 4th class, go golfing every year during Parents Weekend -- including at the Broadmoor and at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort courses (two of the nicest, if not the nicest, in Colorado Springs). Your cadet will be able to golf at either wearing whatever the Academy allows him to wear. These courses are happy to have your business and are familiar with cadets. A number of cadet families will stay at both locations -- they are used to catering to cadets and their families. If you are concerned and need to figure this out in advance -- call the courses. Someone should be able to confirm that your cadet will be welcome.

Thanks for the info. It dawned on me (finally) that my cadet's class is not the first to go through this and that the COS area has probably seen it all before!
