Hey, Im looking through the latter parts of the appointee kit, and I had a question about vaccination.

What qualifies as fully vaccinated?

I have two shots of Pfizer, but no booster. Where I live, this is fully vaccinated, however, I know some places require the booster. I did not read anywhere about how many shots qualifies as "fully vaccinated".

Thanks

I read that it means 2 shots (if a 2-shot series) and 14 days for immunity to fully develop. I haven't seen the booster required in any USAFA literature yet.

Daughter was looking through the Appointee Kit and also had a question regarding the MMR vaccine. It states "Special Note: If appointee received both doses vaccination prior to 1 January, the Air Force Academy will require a blood titers lab test to determine your immunity to Mumps." Since most kids were vaccinated when they were young kids with the MMR vaccine I assume that almost everyone will be required to submit a blood titer if they do not want to be revaccinated on I day. Can anyone clarify if my understanding is correct.

Can you send a screenshot of that phrasing? I don't see that on mine.

I saw this, don't know if its the same for everyone too you must arrive on In-Processing Day, June 23, 2022, either fully vaccinated or with an approved pre-accession exemption/accommodation. Fully vaccinated is defined as 14 days after completion of the final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Of course, the academies will have their own rule, but my son is in the AF and I don't think they made the booster mandatory. When he came home for Christmas we told him he had to get the booster as California was a mess and he needed it. At that time, at least in his base, no one was pushing the booster. I think after everyone came back from Christmas his base started pushing it. However, it wasn't mandatory.

As someone who has been down the MMR vaccine route in the past, it is easier to get another MMR vaccine than wait for the blood results and then maybe have to get the MMR vaccine anyway. It burns like FIRE.

My '25 DD was vaccinated at a young age. We submitted the titer, after which we got an email telling us that we should re-submit without the titer information but with the childhood vaccine information. So I would definitely ask and see if you can get clarification.

I'm in the same boat. I submitted my card to the pre-appointee kit, but so far it has yet to be approved or denied. I did notice in the actual appointee kit it asks for the dates of your COVID Shots, including a 3rd date, but I'm not sure if it's required. All of the stuff in the appointee handbook makes it look like only 2 shots are necessary.
