According to the USAFA website, the height and weight standards are far more stringent than the ither academies and active duty. For instance , 69 inches is 169, but other academies and active duty has a max weight of 186. Is this accurate? Why is USAFA like this?

This is accurate. I am not exactly sure why, but you'll notice that all of the maximum weights for USAFA (with respect to height) align with a BMI of 25, which is the border between normal weight and overweight. The other academies align their heights/weights to 27.5 BMI. Again, not exactly sure why. Maybe they want better performance, and maybe it has to do something with the higher altitude.

Or small cockpits.

Eh, Its not cockpit size, thats height based.

I doubt it is mission based. If it is based on mission, I would expect USMA or USNA to be be more stringent than USAFA. I was in USAF and active duty officers were various shapes and sizes...
