Does anyone have any information about the new Wings of Blue tryouts (or Wings of Green I guess)? When I was at the summer seminar a couple of weeks ago, I briefly got to talk to a WoB guy and he said they've kind of gone away from so much PT and now they're just looking for good teachers for AM490. Is this true? Any info about the tryouts is greatly appreciated.

You should select AM490 the summer between C4C and C3C to make sure you enjoy jump. Tryouts for Wings of Green will be right at the start of your C3C year. If you have any Wings of Blue members in your squadron, make sure you let them know you are interested.

My daughter is a WOB member. I know you have to take 490 at the end of your 4C year in order to try out for WOB. Not sure what the WOB meant about doing away with PT, but you have to be in excellent shape and be able to do several pull-ups on the first day to even complete the try-out. Also, 490 training is done by WOB members. My daughter is spending all summer teaching 490. It is very competitive as I think they only take 25 give or take each year. I could be wrong on my info, but I think it is close.

My DS will have his skydiving A license, if not B, by the time he enters the academy (hopefully ), does that carry any weight for trying out Doolie year or does that not even matter, everyone waits for AM490?

It won't hurt!! :thumb:

But the grades...that's key!

I had a "C" license...but a GPA that meant I didn't have much free time...think "AC PRO ACE" here...

So I never made a jump at USAFA, just Fort Benning...
